Executive Function Coaching - Mental Health

About executive function coaching

What is executive function coaching?

Executive function coaching is a structured but conversational process that helps you understand how your brain works, identify what is getting in the way, and build practical strategies for moving forward. Sessions are grounded in neuroscience and guided by an executive function lens. It is not therapy, and it is not about being told what to do. It is a collaborative process built around your specific situation, goals, and how you work best.

Executive functions are a set of brain-based skills that help you manage yourself, your time, your emotions, and your actions. They include things like planning, getting started on tasks, managing time, regulating emotions, holding information in mind, and switching between demands. Most people have a mix of strengths and challenges across these skills. There is a full explanation on the “What are executive functions” page.

No. Coaching and therapy are different things, though both can be valuable. Coaching is focused on the present and future, is practical and goal-oriented, and works through guided conversation rather than clinical treatment. It is not a diagnostic service and it is not a substitute for medical or psychological support.

If you are currently working with a therapist or other mental health professional, coaching can often sit alongside that support well.

Who coaching is for

Do I need to be neurodivergent to work with you?

No. Executive function coaching is open to any adult who feels it might be useful. Everyone has a mix of EF strengths and challenges, neurodivergent or not. A lot of what is on this website will resonate with people who have never had a diagnosis and are managing reasonably well most of the time. You do not need to be drowning to benefit from understanding yourself better.

No. You do not need a formal diagnosis of any kind. If executive function challenges resonate with your experience, that is enough. Many clients are undiagnosed or in the process of being assessed.

It depends on where you are in the burnout process. If you are in the acute phase and your capacity is very low, other support may need to come first. That said, coaching can be genuinely useful at the right stage of recovery, and it can also be valuable for people who are not currently in burnout but would like to explore their executive functions and put strategies in place to prevent it. This is something we will discuss honestly on the discovery call.

Yes. Coaching can work well alongside therapy, medication, occupational therapy, or other forms of support. If you are unsure whether coaching is the right fit given your current situation, the discovery call is a good place to talk that through.

Yes. All sessions take place online via Google Meet, which means I work with clients across the UK and worldwide. As long as you have a reliable internet connection and a quiet space, location is not a barrier.

How sessions work

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Sessions run for 50 minutes. The standard coaching block is generally 8 weekly sessions, which gives enough time to build understanding, develop strategies, and start to see real progress. A weekly rhythm can help keep momentum going and gives time between sessions to try things out and reflect. Other frequencies can be discussed during our discovery call. I’m always happy to learn what you think would work best.

All sessions take place online via Google Meet. There is nothing to install in advance. You just need a quiet space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone.

Each session is a guided conversation. There is usually time at the start to check in and reflect on what has happened since the last session, including what has worked and what has not. From there, sessions might involve exploring a specific challenge, brainstorming strategies, breaking down goals into manageable steps, or working through something that has come up.

There is no fixed agenda imposed from above. The direction of each session is led by what you bring and what is most useful for you right now.

Yes. I provide a session summary after each coaching session. This is particularly useful for clients who find it hard to hold onto information from memory alone, and means you have a record of what was discussed, any strategies explored, and any next steps agreed. Relevant resources may also be shared between sessions where helpful.

Coaching aims to give you the tools and knowledge to independently self-coach. However, if it’s helpful to you after completing your block of 8 sessions, you are welcome to continue with further support. That might look like weekly sessions for a period, fortnightly check-ins, a monthly session, or simply coming back when you feel you need it. There is no pressure to commit to anything beyond your initial block. Pricing for continuation sessions is available on request.

Pricing and funding

How much does coaching cost?

The coaching block is priced at £600 for 8 sessions, which works out at £75 per session, or £840 for 12 sessions, which works out at £70 per session. Pricing for continuation sessions after the initial block is available on request. There is also a free discovery call before you commit to anything.

Yes. If you are in employment, self employed or run your own businesss, and have a disability, health condition, or are neurodivergent, you may be able to have your coaching funded through the UK government’s Access to Work scheme. Jeanette accepts Access to Work funding and is happy to provide a formal quote as part of the application process. There is a dedicated Access to Work page with full details.
